JD Vance Brawls With George Stephanopoulos Over Tom Homan Bribery Scandal

STEPHANOPOULOS: White House border czar Tom Homan was recorded on FBI surveillance video accepting $50,000 in cash in September 2024. Did he keep the money or give it back?
VANCE: George, you’ve covered the story ad nauseam. Tom Homan did not take bribes. That’s a ridiculous slur. And the reason you guys are going after Tom Homan so aggressively is because he’s doing his job of enforcing the law. I think this is really ridiculous. I know Tom, I think he’s a good man. He receives death threats, he is attacked, he is constantly threatened by people because he has the courage to enforce the country’s immigration laws. I just think there would be a much more interesting story about why Tom Homan, who enforces America’s immigration laws, is constantly harassed and threatened with death threats. This is a much more interesting question that I think journalists should focus on. We can agree to disagree on this question.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Wait, you said you didn’t take bribes, but I’m not sure you answered the question. Are you saying you didn’t accept $50,000?
VANCE: George, this story has been handled ad nauseam. He did not take bribes. Did he accept $50,000? I’m pretty sure Tom Homan was paid more than $50,000 for his services during his lifetime. The question is; Did he do something illegal? And there is absolutely no evidence that Tom Homan took bribes.
STEPHANOPOULOS: No, I’m asking a different question. I ask you, did he accept it?
VANCE: — or he did something illegal, which is why he’s working in the administration.
STEPHANOPOULOS: I ask you, did he accept the $50,000 that was recorded on surveillance video? Did he accept that $50,000 or not?
VANCE: George, I don’t know what you’re talking about. What did he accept $50,000 for?
STEPHANOPOULOS: In September 2024, he was recorded on an audiotape, an FBI surveillance tape, of him accepting $50,000 in cash. Did he keep this money?
VANCE: You’re accepting $50,000 to do what, George? I’m not even sure I understand the question. Is it illegal to charge for services? The FBI did not press charges against him. I have seen no evidence that he committed a criminal offense. No one has ever accused Tom of a criminal violation, not even far-left media like you. So I’m actually not sure what the exact problem is. Did he accept $50,000? Honestly, George, I don’t know the answer to this question. What I do know is that he did not commit a crime.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So you’re saying – what was recorded on tape, you don’t know right now whether he kept that money or not?
VANCE: I don’t know what tape you’re talking about, George. I have seen media reports that Tom Homan accepted bribes. There is no evidence of this. Here’s George, why fewer and fewer people are watching your show and why you’re losing credibility. Because for now you’re talking to the Vice President of the United States about this story about Tom Homan, a story I’ve read about but I don’t even know the video you’re talking about. Meanwhile, low-income women can’t buy food because of Democrats and Democrats. Chuck Schumer They shut down the government. We’re currently trying to figure out how to pay our troops because Chuck Schumer shut down the government. You are focusing on a false story. Instead of focusing on the fact that our country is in dire straits due to our government shutdown, you are insinuating a crime against a man who has done nothing wrong. Let’s talk about the real issues, George. I think the American people would benefit far more from you going down some weird left-wing rabbit hole where the facts clearly show that Tom Homan was not involved in any crime.
STEPHANOPOULOS: This isn’t some weird leftist rabbit hole. I didn’t imply anything. I asked in September 2024 if Tom Homan accepted the $50,000 as heard in an audio recording recorded by the FBI, and you did not answer the question. Thank you for your time this morning.
