Jon Stewart fumes over Trump’s nearly $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund

Talk show host Jon Stewart railed against President Donald Trump’s “anti-proliferation” fund on Wednesday, arguing that it was the latest move to “troll” the American people and take their money.
Democrats and even Republican allies have opposed Trump’s nearly $1.8 billion “anti-proliferation” fund over concerns about where the money is coming from and who is making waves at the Capitol. The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced $1.78 billion in funding earlier this week, with an agreement reached between Trump and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to dismiss a $10 billion lawsuit.
Stewart took questions on Wednesday’s episode of his podcast and was asked whether he would rather vote for former President Richard Nixon or Trump.
The talk show host said he would undoubtedly prefer Nixon “to at least get the EPA” and joked that he would be viewed as a communist by modern Republicans.

“Yes, Watergate is cute now,” one host said, suggesting that Nixon’s scandal seemed tame compared to Trump’s controversies.
Stewart said he had a hazy memory of an alleged slush fund scandal during Nixon’s presidency, but that it was minor compared to the scandal Trump has brought forward.
“But think about that compared to $1.8 billion of taxpayers’ money, at least I think Nixon’s slush fund is a donor!” he said. “This is fucking OUR money. I mean, this is… do we have a Congress or a court?”
After a co-host points out that $1.776 billion is a sarcastic reference to the country’s founding in 1776, Stewart argues that the whole situation is Orwellian.
“They’re all Orwell. They’re all a ‘f—you’ troll. Everything they do is a ‘f—you’ troll to us. ‘It’s against the weaponization of it and it’s patriotism.’ They are trolling us. “His whole career has been a troll,” he said. “They’re going to give it to the people who spray MACE on police officers and act like they’re rewarding patriotism,” Stewart continued to complain.

He argued that the Trump administration resembles a form of viral hijacking that is common on social media.
“You know what it reminds me of? Have you ever seen those videos where a bunch of teenagers fly into CVS and start buying s—?” he asked, “and everyone’s standing around saying, ‘Is he going to call someone or are we going to call?’ like, that’s who we are.”
“The Trump administration is crushing the American people and taxpayers,” he concluded. “This is the most corrupt, completely unsheathed, unleashed thing on us, and they’re taking what they can and acting like it’s compensation for some victimization they’ve faced, it’s all made up. It’s ridiculous. It’s brutal. Smash and seize.”
Fox News Digital reached out to the White House but did not immediately receive a response.
