Joy Behar kisses Anson Mount on ‘The View,’ husband texts her to stop

Joy Behar shocked her fellow “The View” hosts and viewers when she kissed actor Anson Mount on Wednesday’s episode.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg introduced Mount, and the actor began walking toward “The View” table and greeting the hosts. When she greeted Behar, the host kissed her on the lips.

Co-host Sunny Hostin pointed at the duo and the other co-hosts laughed.

After Mount sat down, Behar said, “You know what? I’m old, but I’m not dead.”

“That’s good, Joy, because I am,” Mount said.

Behar said that during Mount’s last visit with “The View,” he brought her flowers for her birthday and things were never the same between them.

“Yes, I got married,” he said.

Behar addressed the kiss on Wednesday’s “Behind the Table” podcast, telling “The View” producer Brian Teta: “I’ve been hearing about Anson Mount all morning and making jokes about his name.”

“Then when he came out, I wanted to kiss him,” Behar said.

Teta asked Behar if she had heard from her husband, Steve Janowitz. The presenter said he texted her during the show and said, “Stop it.”

Mount spoke with the co-hosts about the “Star Trek” series “Strange New Worlds.”

“This was my fantasy game as a kid, looking around and saying to myself, ‘I’m from White Bluff, Tennessee. How did I get into the captain’s chair?'” he said during the interview. “There wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t say that.” he said.

During Wednesday’s show, the co-hosts also discussed hearings regarding the Smithsonian Institution on Capitol Hill.

Hostin argued during the debate that Republicans targeted the Smithsonian because the Trump administration did not want to pay reparations to Black Americans.

“Reparations,” Hostin said. “I think this reflects a broad effort by the Trump administration to reshape the way the nation’s history is told so that this country doesn’t have to pay Black people for the forced labor and unpaid labor that built this country. That’s really what I think this is about.”

“Let’s face it, you have truth and reconciliation commissions, and you have those commissions when it comes to Japanese Americans who were arrested. You have those commissions when it comes to the Holocaust. You have those commissions when it comes to Native Americans,” he continued. “There’s been no such thing when it comes to slavery – truth and reconciliation commissions – and that’s because they’re trying to bury the truth. You can’t get real reconciliation, and then you can’t get real financial repair unless you have the truth. And they’re trying to erase that truth.”

“This is about this country trying to avoid paying our debt to African Americans,” Hostin concluded.
