Far-left journalist Joy Reid Democratic Party After Graham Platner suspended his Maine Senate campaign on Wednesday, telling voters they had “permission to not vote” if leadership chose to replace the progressive candidate with a more moderate option.

Reid also said he has given his blessing to Maine voters not to vote unless Democrats choose a candidate whose policies align with Platner’s campaign promises.

“If you don’t and the DNC shoves an AIPAC candidate down your throat, you have my permission not to vote for them because the Democratic Party needs to learn that this isn’t ‘Vote blue no matter who it is.’ It matters who it is,” Reid continued.

The podcast host suggested Democrats will have to reckon with an inevitable election loss if party leaders fail to take voters’ preferences into account.

“Sometimes they have to lose to learn,” Reid said. “Sometimes you learn when you lose.”

Reid warned the party that the decision could cost the election if it chose another “sales moderate” to fill Platner’s seat.

Reid said, “If they replace Graham Platner with another AIPAC sales representative and not someone with the same ideology as him, I’ll let you stay home. Then they’ll find out Susan Collins got six more years.” “At this point we have to teach the Democrats a lesson. We have to instruct them, we have to teach them how to treat us.

“It’s like being in a relationship,” Reid added. “We need to teach you how to treat your wife.”

Reid’s comments come on the heels of Platner announcing Monday that he is dropping out of the race just five days before the crucial 5 p.m. deadline, allowing the Maine Democratic Party to replace him on the general election ballot.

The party has until July 27 choose a new candidate.

Platner’s suspension of his campaign was announced just days after Maine resident Jenny Racicot told CNN’s Jake Tapper that “per the dictionary definition” Platner “raped” her while they were in a relationship; these allegations Platner vehemently denied.

“These allegations are disturbing, serious and false. Any accusation of non-consensual conduct is categorically untrue,” Platner said in a statement to Politico.

Platner was the subject of a second bombshell claim released Tuesday. Washington PostHis ex-girlfriend, Lyndsey Fifield, accused him of removing the condom during sex and engaging in physical abuse.

In a statement to the Post, the Platner campaign said Fifield’s latest allegations were “categorically false and politically motivated.”

Inside a video In an email to X on Wednesday night, Platner emphasized that he did not suspend his campaign “because of the allegations” but “because of the structures that were taken away from us by those in power.”
