Juan Soto leaves Mets game against Dodgers with lingering calf issue

The New York Mets have suffered another blow on the injury front; this time star Juan Soto was out.
The Mets hosted the reigning World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers, fresh off a visit to the White House, on Friday night.
It was an eventful evening at the ballpark, as actress Emma Stone was filming a movie there and took some time to chat with Soto before the game.

But this might be the highlight of the night for Soto.
The 27-year-old struck out twice, but in the middle of the sixth inning, the Mets removed Soto from the game.
The calf injury has been lingering for some time and has been on the Mets’ radar. It actually first appeared on July 16th. Soto was even given permission to address the issue earlier this week.

Before the game, interim coach Andy Green touched on this issue.
“The situation is evolving for him,” Green said, per MLB.com. “Hopefully after today we won’t have to talk about this anymore.”
Unfortunately, they will, and Mets fans have been trying to address the latest injury news on social media.

Soto was the Mets’ only All-Star this season, which underscores how much of a problem it would be to not have him in the lineup.

In 84 games this season, Soto batted .283 with 83 hits and 21 home runs. He is in the second year of a 15-year, $765 million deal he signed with the Mets in December 2024.
