Judge says Lil Nas X police battery charges to be dismissed if he completes treatment program | Lil Nas X

A judge allowed Lil Nas X to enter a mental health diversion program, which would lead to charges of assaulting Los Angeles police officers being dismissed.

Judge Alan Schneider told the rapper and singer on Monday that the four felony charges against him will be dismissed if he sticks to his treatment program and obeys all laws for two years.

The court found the incident was a result of his bipolar disorder, which he has since been diagnosed with, and was a departure from his usual behaviour.

The program, officially known as probation suspension, also requires the person not to possess a weapon or make threats of violence.

Authorities allege that the 26-year-old walked naked on a street in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley in August and attacked police officers responding to calls about him. The criminal complaint states that three officers were injured. In photos and videos apparently taken before the clash with the police, she can be seen walking on the street wearing only white underpants and white boots.

He was found not guilty on three counts of aggravated battery for injuring a police officer, as well as a charge of resisting an executive officer.

He said outside court on Monday that he was “thankful – just very grateful” to Rolling Stone, which first reported the diversion agreement, and that “it could have been a lot worse.”
