Newly released police video shows Justin Timberlake struggling with field sobriety tests during a 2024 Hamptons traffic stop that led to his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Timberlake was arrested in June 2024 after police suspected him of drunk driving. He later pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while impaired and received community service, in addition to issuing a public apology as part of the apology agreement.

In nearly eight hours of filming, “I Can’t Stop the Feeling!” The singer’s first stop came after Sag Harbor police say he ran a stop sign, swerved out of his lane and emerged from his BMW smelling of alcohol.

After being pulled over, a police officer asked Timberlake why he was in town. “I’m on a world tour,” he replied.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

He later added, “World tour. I’m Justin Timberlake.”

The officer asked, “Are you Justin Timberlake? Do you have a driver’s license with you?” he replied.

Body camera video shows Timberlake struggling to follow instructions as officers ask him to walk heel-to-toe in a straight line and stand on one leg.

As officers explained the instructions, he apologized and said, “My heart is pounding.”

“I’m a little nervous,” Timberlake said.

In the backseat of the police car he shouted, “Why are you arresting me?” he asked.

Timberlake was then informed that he would be held at the police station overnight, to which Timberlake said: “Am I going to be here all night? You’re crazy, man.”

Earlier this month, Timberlake filed a lawsuit against the Village of Sag Harbor and its police department in an attempt to block the release of body camera footage.

In a petition seeking to block the release of the footage, Timberlake’s legal team said it was notified on March 1 of the police department’s intent to respond to a request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIL) to release the body camera footage, which would include redactions for medical and safety reasons.

Timberlake argued that the images “contain personally identifying information and private details that are not related to any law enforcement action of public concern and are not viewable by the public except in the presence and recording of law enforcement.”

But on Friday, Timberlake’s lawyers said in a joint filing with the village that the video “does not constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy” under state law and agreed to its release.
