Keir Starmer’s fresh blow as ‘frustrated’ ally to give Mandelson | Politics | News

Sir Keir Starmer is expected to suffer a fresh blow on Thursday in another explosive incident over his handling of Peter Mandelson. Cat Little, the permanent secretary in the cabinet office, is likely to challenge Olly Robbins’ evidence at the foreign affairs select committee tomorrow.

Ms Little obtained Lord Mandelson’s review report on March 25 and told the Prime Minister about it on legal advice three weeks later, The Times’ Steven Swinford reported. X The post on Ms Little was at the center of the Whitehall clash between the Foreign Office and the Cabinet Office.

“He received the inquiry report into Lord Mandelson on 25 March and informed the prime minister three weeks later, after obtaining comprehensive legal advice.”

He continued: “He is said to be frustrated at receiving information from the State Department for the Humble Speech on Mandelson. We expect him to present a counterargument to the evidence presented by Robbins on Tuesday. He will also be fascinating on the next tranche of the Mandelson files.”
