3 More Held In Bangladesh Over Hindu Man’s Lynching; Total Arrests Reach 10 | World News

Three more people have been arrested in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district. With these arrests, the number of people detained in the case increased to 10.
Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of Bangladesh’s interim government, said in his post on X that seven suspects were arrested by the Rapid Response Battalion (RAB), while the police detained the other three suspects.

Among those arrested by RAB was Md. Limon Sarkar (19), Md. Tarek Hossain (19), Md. Manik Mia (20), Ershad Ali (39), Nijum Uddin (20), Alomgir Hossain (38) and Md. Miraj Hossain Akon (46) is included. Yunus said that the police arrested Ms. Azmol Hasan Sağır (26), Ms. Shahin Mia (19) and Doctor Nazmul.

Taslima Nasreen Asked for Life Imprisonment for the Defendant
Exiled Bangladeshi writer and activist Taslima Nasreen said on Sunday that Dipu did not insult any religion and was killed after false rumors spread against her. He demanded life imprisonment for those involved in the crime, especially the floor manager, and said that none of the accused should be released later through legal manipulation.
Nasreen also called on the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety of religious minorities.
