Kerala Guv Cuts Convoy Size Following PM’s Fuel Conservation Call

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has reduced the number of vehicles in his convoy following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to save fuel, official sources said here. “It has reduced the number of vehicles in the convoy by one-third. Now there will be only pilot and escort vehicles in the convoy,” a Lok Bhavan source said, without going into details.
The source said the steps were taken following the Prime Minister’s call to reduce petrol and diesel consumption.
Modi had recently significantly reduced the size of his convoy, just days after calling for austerity and urging citizens to stop the use of fuel-powered vehicles.
Amid the crisis in West Asia, Modi had called for austerity while addressing a rally organized by the Telangana BJP in Hyderabad.
The Prime Minister suggested reducing gasoline and diesel consumption, using metro services in cities, car sharing, increasing the use of electric vehicles, using railway services for parcel transportation and working from home to save foreign currency.
