NASA Artemis II launch: Where to watch historic moon mission as it’s set to begin in hours | Science | News

NASA announced where to watch the Artemis II launch as astronauts prepare for the historic Moon mission. The crew is expected to begin a 10-day mission around the far side of the Moon (the side we never see) tomorrow and return to Earth.

NASA is still aiming for a launch on April 1 at 6:24 pm EDT (23:24 GMT), given favorable weather conditions. If this date is missed due to adverse weather conditions or other issues, additional opportunities are available for launch through April 6 and then again at the end of the month. NASA will provide live coverage of pre-launch, launch, splashdown and other events that can be viewed from around the world.

The agency will stream live on its app and NASA+ streaming service, as well as on its YouTube channel, Twitch, X and Facebook.

Third-party streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Hulu and Roku will also provide coverage. Express will also bring you live coverage and live coverage of the event from launch to arrival, so stay tuned.

The rocket’s crew consists of astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen. They will be the first humans to fly on the Space Launch System and Orion spacecraft.

The rocket was scheduled to launch in February but a helium leak was discovered and had to return to the Vehicle Assembly Building in Cape Canaveral for repairs.

NASA said the issue has now been resolved and Artemis II was returned to the Florida launch pad on March 19 ahead of launch.

Artemis II has already been delayed by two years after the first mission revealed problems with the heat shield during the Space Launch System and the flight of the Orion capsule to the Moon with no one on board.

In December 2024, NASA set a new deadline for launch before the end of April 2026.
