The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has called for bids for power supply to meet peak time demand during the period between June 15 and December 31 this year.
According to the tender document, the electricity company targets 400 MW for the second half of June, 300 MW for August and September, 300 MW in July, and 500 MW in October, November and December.
The tender was held through the Discovery of Efficient Electricity Price (DEEP) e-tender portal.
Supply is sought from 18.30 to midnight in June, July, August and September, and from 17.00 to 22.00 in October, November and December.
KSEB seeks supply from power generation companies, other State utilities, captive power generators, distribution licenses and State Electricity Boards. The initial public offerings are scheduled to open on May 22.
At the peak of summer 2026, KSEB had faced a sudden increase in consumption due to the unexpected increase in summer temperatures. The electricity utility had attributed this to dependence on air conditioners, electric vehicle charging in the evening and the switch to electric cooking due to LPG shortage caused by the West Asian crisis.
