The King and Queen will be honored at a state dinner attended by the biggest and richest names.
Golf icon Rory McIlroy and Amazon boss Jeff Bezos will attend the star-studded dinner in Washington, where guests will be served a lavish four-course meal.
Before Donald Trump The King was ceremonially welcomed to the South Lawn of the White House before being invited to a private meeting in the Oval Office.
Charles also addressed a joint session of Congress and met with Queen Elizabeth II. It was only the second speech to such a meeting by a British Monarch, following Elizabeth’s speech at the Capitol in 1991. The King’s speech to Congress reaffirmed the shared democratic values of the UK and US, which have been deeply woven into the fabric of both nations over the last 250 years.
He opened his speech by referring to Saturday evening’s events in the spirit of solidarity, sympathy and support, bringing “the greatest respect and friendship of the British people to the people of the United States” in this landmark anniversary year.
Much of Her Majesty’s speech, written on the advice of the Government, reflected the huge challenges, both national and international, that we now face. This was seen as a tacit acknowledgment of recent tensions over the Iran war, as the king told both houses that “our two countries have always found ways to come together”.
