King strips Andrew of Order of the Garter

The King officially stripped his brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor of his prestigious Order of the Garter and Royal Victorian Order awards.

Charles ordered that Andrew’s titles be “nullified and annulled” and his name “erased” from the historical records of the order.

The former prince was married to his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. He was made a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter by Elizabeth II in 2006 and a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order in 2011.

Andrew was stripped of his birthright to be a prince and Her Royal Highness, and had the title of Duke of York removed from the Peerage List by Charles for “serious errors of judgment” over his friendship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The entry in The Gazette, the official public record of the United Kingdom, on Monday, under the heading Central Chancellery Order of Chivalry, read: “THE KING orders that the appointment of Andrew Albert Christian Edward MOUNTBATTEN-WINDSOR as a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, dated 23 April 2006, is set aside and annulled, and his name be struck from the Registers of that Order.

“THE KING directs that the appointment of Andrew Albert Christian Edward MOUNTBATTEN-WINDSOR as Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order dated 19 February 2011 is annulled and annulled and his name be struck from the Registers of that Order.

The former Duke faced allegations that he sexually assaulted a young girl named Virginia Giuffre, who was trafficked by Epstein for many years.

Mountbatten-Windsor vehemently denies the accusations.

In 2022, he paid Giuffre millions to settle a civil sexual assault claim.

She resigned from royal duties in 2019 following her disastrous interview on BBC TV, but the posthumous publication of Giuffre’s memoirs and the US government’s release of documents from Epstein’s estate have brought renewed focus on Mountbatten-Windsor in recent weeks.

US politicians have also criticized the former prince for his “silence” after he missed a deadline to respond to requests for an interview about Epstein last month.

The Order of the Garter is the nation’s oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry, and the honor is awarded in recognition of public service, with recipients personally selected by the monarch.

The Royal Victorian Order is also the personal gift of the monarch and recognizes service rendered to the monarch.

Andrew remains a vice admiral in the royal navy, despite the government promising to abolish the honorary rank.

He will complete his internal exile by moving from Royal Lodge in Windsor to the King’s private Sandringham estate in Norfolk at some point in the new year.
