Kirandeep Kaur: Murder-accused killed new mother as she slept in bed with husband and baby, court hears

A man accused of murder broke into the home of a young mother sleeping in bed with her husband and three-month-old baby and fatally stabbed her, a court heard.
Daniel Sean James, 46, allegedly attacked Kirandeep Kaur, 24, at her own home in Hayes, west London, on the morning of July 12.
The man then jumped out of the window, breaking both his wrists, and was detained by police nearby, the Old Bailey was told.
Before the random attack, James allegedly walked through a playground in Hayes wearing all black and wielding a large knife.
Allegedly, CCTV and doorbell cameras captured him approaching three different addresses, when a man in his 20s came up behind him on the street and stabbed him in the back.
Minutes later, at around 7.51am, he allegedly kicked in the door of the home Ms Kaur shared with her husband and three-month-old baby and entered while they were asleep in bed.
Charlene Sumnall, prosecuting, said the husband was awakened by his wife screaming and saw a figure coming out of the bedroom.

Two minutes later, James jumped out of the window in the kitchen-living room area and exited the property on Uxbridge Road, the court heard.
It was claimed that the person, who broke both his ankles, tried to escape but collapsed 10 meters later.
The time from the alleged first sighting of the defendant until police arrived at the scene was approximately 24 minutes, the court was told.
Ms Kaur suffered a stab wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at 8.26am.
Elder Bailey was told that both victims were complete strangers to the defendant, who was being treated in hospital before being taken into custody.
He was later charged with murdering Ms Kaur, attempted murder and carrying a knife.
On Thursday, James, of Mercer Place, Pinner, west London, appeared in Court One at the Old Bailey via video link from Wormwood Scrubs.
Judge Nigel Lickley KC set a plea hearing for October 1 and a provisional hearing for three weeks from April 5 next year.
James spoke only to confirm his identity and was taken into custody.
