Knicks stars get involved in WWE angles at Saturday Night’s Main Event

WWE’s Saturday Night Main Event at Madison Square Garden celebrated the New York Knicks’ championship run in the 2025-26 season.

Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns supported Danhausen in his no-disqualification match against JD McDonagh. Towns provided strong support to Danhausen and got involved in the match. Danhausen “cursed” Mysterio and ordered Towns to do his worst.

The 7-footer began choking McDonagh before choking Mysterio through a table as the raucous New York City crowd went wild.

Towns wasn’t the only Knicks star in the ring.

NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson was in Roman Reigns’ corner as the world heavyweight champion took the stage to end the show. Brunson received great applause from the fans who filled the hall. He was awarded a special Knicks World Heavyweight Championship.

Then Seth Rollins’ music was heard. Instead of Reigns’ SummerSlam opponent, the person who came out of the backstage area with a chair was Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton.

The distraction allowed Rollins to jump into the ring and yell at Reigns. Rollins would hit Reigns with a chair Stomp before Brunson got between them. Fans chanted “MVP” before the show went off the air.

Brunson is a huge WWE fan and has previously revealed that he and his trainer “accept” Reigns before matches. He also spent a minute in the ring with Haliburton in a previous angle.
