Kurnool district police intensify enforcement to curb road accidents

As part of measures to prevent road accidents, Kurnool district police have intensified inspections as well as road safety awareness programs across the district. During their inspection work, the police detected 21,977 different traffic violations in the last six months.
According to officials, the regional police took strict action against those who violated traffic rules between January 1, 2026 and June 30, 2026. It was stated that in the past six months, there were 4,302 cases of excessive speeding, 3,272 cases of driving without a helmet, 1,303 cases of driving with a mobile phone, 4,464 cases of drunk driving and 8,274 cases of drunk driving in public places, 306 cases. Three cases of driving and 56 cases of underage driving were recorded.
The police appealed to the public to strictly comply with traffic rules, urged two-wheeler drivers to wear helmets and advised them not to hand over vehicles to minors or drive under the influence of alcohol.
Police said that special awareness programs are constantly being conducted across the region to raise public awareness about traffic rules.
