Even though Kyle Busch was a legend in the NASCAR ranks, he was incredibly respected in the world of motorsports.

That’s why one of Busch’s NASCAR numbers (what I would argue is his most iconic number) will appear in the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500.

Busch had multiple numbers in NASCAR’s three national series, but used the No. 5, 18 and 8 in the Cup Series.

For many fans, No. 18 is the number associated with Busch; because Busch used this number for 15 years, including both championship seasons.

NASCAR, RACE WORLD REACTS TO THE SHOCK DEATH OF 41-YEAR-OLD KYLE BUSCH: ‘I CANNOT UNDERSTAND THIS NEWS’

You can close your eyes and imagine it next to those legendary M&M paint schemes.

Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern shared that Dale Coyne Racing, which operates the No. 18 Honda driven by Romain Grosjean, will showcase the classic No. 18 used on Busch’s car during his time with Joe Gibbs Racing in the Cup Series.

What about this tribute?

Of course, the numbers are often trademarked, and as Stern reported, the idea, which came from Fox Sports IndyCar commentator Townsend Bell, required contacting Joe Gibbs Racing.

Busch has never raced in the Indy 500 or the IndyCar Series; but he had a lot of success at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in NASCAR.

His brother, retired NASCAR driver and former Cup Series champion Kurt Busch, tried to pull double duty by racing in both the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day in 2014.

This is a huge shout out from the folks at Dale Coyne Racing with help from JGR.

While I don’t want to play favorites, wouldn’t it be nice to see No. 18 in Victory Lane?

Grosjean will start Sunday’s race in 24th place, which means he has something to make up for, but anything can happen at the Indy 500.
