Iran war LIVE: Kharg Island ‘under fresh attack’ after Trump’s chilling warning | World | News

The American military launched an overnight attack on dozens of Iranian military targets on Kharg Island, a US official said.
The operation involved air strikes along the north side of the island and did not involve any US troops on the ground. According to the official, the attacks targeted military bunkers, storage areas, air defense systems and other military facilities rather than oil infrastructure.
All the areas hit were military targets and most of them had been hit before, the official said. On March 13, President Donald Trump said the US had “completely destroyed all MILITARY targets on Iran’s jewel, Kharg Island.”
Kharg Island is a major oil export hub for Iran and has previously been discussed as a possible location for a US ground operation.
The official emphasized that the latest action did not target oil facilities before the deadline Trump gave Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face attacks on its infrastructure.
