LA police hit with fireworks, bottles during chaotic Dodgers celebrations

Los Angeles police officers were hit with fireworks and bottles during street celebrations following the Dodgers World Series win late Saturday, and police authorized the use of tear gas to quell the chaos.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Division announced early Sunday that the use of less-lethal munitions and tear gas is permitted around Olympic Boulevard and Grand Avenue.

“CS gas authorized by Incident Commander,” an X post read. “Officers are being shot with industrial-sized fireworks and bottles.”

It was not immediately clear if any officers were injured.

Photos and videos from downtown Los Angeles show police officers wearing helmets and some wearing gas masks. Multiple fireworks were heard throughout the night, and smoke could be seen rising from the streets.

There was some smoke coming from cars making donuts and burning tires as they took over a street. FOX11Los Angeles reported.

Street celebrations broke out in Los Angeles after the Dodgers’ thrilling comeback in Game 7 to beat the Toronto Blue Jays in extra innings. The Dodgers defeated Toronto 5-4 after catcher Will Smith hit a home run in the 11th inning.
