Labour minister issues bad news for Brits going abroad as Sky News issues update | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

On this morning’s episode of Sky News, hosted by Sophy Ridge, there was breaking news about jet fuel supply issues as she interviewed Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden. Ridge began: “What are our jet fuel stocks; how concerned should we be?” The labor secretary responded: “Historically, we’ve gotten a lot of jet fuel from the Middle East, so we have to source it from elsewhere, whether it’s the United States or other countries.

“Airlines will do whatever they can to do that. But if you’re enjoying something that we’re not a part of and we haven’t chosen to be a part of, those are ripple effects. But if we go back to leveling with audiences, we can’t escape the consequences.”

“The point is that the Government will do everything we can to help…” The Sky News presenter chimed in to say: “We could see more flights being cut and cancelled, is that the truth?”

But he said he did not want to make any predictions, adding: “I think the airlines know there is a problem, they are experienced businesses and they are sourcing wherever they can.

“They will seek to find alternative supplies if supplies cannot be obtained from their usual Middle Eastern sources.”

The interview comes as airlines around the world are canceling flights as they grapple with a severe jet fuel crisis due to rising prices and tight supply.

Fuel costs have skyrocketed since the war in Iran began in late February; It rose from roughly $85 per barrel to $90 to $120.

Viewers commented on the announcement, with one writing about X: “Inflation is up, everything is getting more expensive and Labor isn’t helping at all.”

Another added: “Now the bill has arrived – higher fuel prices, jet fuel shortages and the suffering of families across the UK. It’s time to support the work done on this chaos-making regime and stop this suffering.”

A third said: “That’s interesting as @RachelReevesMP told Conservative MP @DrBenSpencer during the ‘economy’ update on the HOC yesterday he’s not reporting any difficulties at the moment! Will he be back to set the record straight?”
