Lando Norris DISQUALIFIED from Las Vegas Grand Prix leaving Brit sweating in close world championship race

Lando Norris was sensationally disqualified from the Las Vegas Grand Prix for driving an illegal vehicle, paving the way for the world championship.
The Briton thought he had a good day, even though he finished second to Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in Sin City and was summoned before the stewards two hours after the end of the race.
At midnight in the Nevada desert, the referees’ decision came; Norris was sent off because the ‘rearmost skid was less than the required thickness’. So was his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri for the same violation.
This means Verstappen has narrowed his lead over Norris to 24 points with 58 points going into the two final rounds in Qatar, where the sprint race will also be held next weekend, and then in Abu Dhabi.

The stewards said: ‘Car number 4 (Norris’s and car number 81, Piastri) are disqualified from the race classification. All other drivers move up in the classification.
‘The rear slides were measured and conformed to technical regulations 3.5.9. It was seen that it was below the minimum thickness of 9 mm specified in the article. Relevant measurements were RHS Front 8.88mm, RHS Rear 8.93mm.’
The decision moved George Russell from third to second, while his Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli moved from fifth to third.
