Laura Henshaw: KICPOD co-host celebrates birth of baby boy Atlas sharing news on Instagram

Laura Henshaw shared the news of her son’s safe arrival on social media on Saturday afternoon.

Ms Henshaw shared a photo on Instagram of herself with husband Dalton Henshaw, with their baby in a blue knit hat lying on her chest.

The caption revealed the name of her newborn son, something she kept a secret until the birth.

The caption read, “Our whole world, baby Atlas ❤️.”

The photo was flooded with hundreds of likes and comments from Aussie icons celebrating the news.

“Congratulations mom and dad ❤️,” Bec Judd said.

DJ Tiger Lily commented, “Congratulations to you two ❤️what a blessing.”

Ms Henshaw co-hosts popular Aussie podcast KICPOD with close friend and business partner Stephanie Miller, and has been open about her decision to have an elective caesarean in recent episodes.

She said many people had asked if the baby had a breech presentation, but the birth plan was based on concerns about contractions from paralyzing menstrual pain and Mr Henshaw’s fear that he might die during childbirth.

“I decided to have an elective caesarean at 39 weeks,” Ms Henshaw said.

Ms. Henshaw also told KICPOD that her favorite name, August, initially clashed with her husband’s choice, Brooks. He said he planned to keep the name they finally agreed on (now revealed to be Atlas) a secret until he was born.

Ms Henshaw was not planning to become pregnant and had a laparoscopy in May to check for endometriosis, which she suspected could hinder her chances of getting pregnant if diagnosed.

News of Ms Henshaw’s pregnancy shocked some fans because she had been very vocal about her uncertainty about whether she wanted children. The issue of balancing the responsibilities of having children, how this affects women’s careers, and whether this is something she wants is explored by Henshaw in 2024’s ‘Do I Want Kids?’ It was explored in the seven-part solo KICPOD series titled.

Henshaw, along with Miller, launched KICPOD in March 2019, where the two friends explore deep, meaningful and relatable conversations about wellness, mental health and life challenges.
