Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Fergie missing as Beatrice throws pub party | Royal | News

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson were absent from the after party after watching their granddaughter Athena be christened in the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace. Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, the youngest daughter of Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, was christened in a close-knit ceremony this morning.
The former prince arrived at St James’s Palace in London this morning in a Range Rover, dashing through a side door away from the waiting media. The former Duchess arrived separately, crouching forward in the back of a Mercedes people carrier. The christening ceremony included only immediate family members and no senior royals; The King and Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales and Princess Anne were absent.
Athena is Andrew and Fergie’s fourth grandchild and the second daughter of Beatrice and her husband Edoardo.
But Beatrice’s sister Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, along with their two sons August and Ernest, were in attendance and were photographed arriving at the event.
Singer James Blunt and his wife Sofia Wellesley also attended the christening ceremony and party. Beatrice was seen arriving at a bar with a group of friends, including Princess Nina of Greece and Denmark, who will be Athena’s godmother.
Edoardo was seen holding a large white box, thought to be a cake for guests, but there was no sign of Fergie and Andrew, as reported in the outlet. Mirror.
It comes as the King officially stripped his disgraced brother Andrew of both his HRH designation and the title of prince over “serious errors of judgment” over his relationship with late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
The decision follows the posthumous publication of Andrew’s accuser Virginia Giuffre’s memoir and the US government’s release of documents from Epstein’s estate. However, Andrew denied all the accusations against him.
As well as being stripped of his titles, he has been forced to give up his huge Royal Lodge mansion and will move to Sandringham Manor, privately financed by the King, next year.
The christening was the first royal event Andrew and Sarah have attended since the Duchess of Kent’s funeral at Westminster Cathedral in September.
