Attorney General Elizabeth Kelso told the Brisbane Supreme Court on Monday he was “well under threat at Ms Walker’s home”.
“He loved living there and paying $165 a week and allowing him to make up the rent in other ways if he fell behind by doing odd jobs around the house,” she said.
“He only had $1.06 in his bank account at the time of his death. It wouldn’t have been easy for him to find another place to live, especially not one as affordable as Ms. Walker’s home.”
“He had nowhere to go. Ms. Walker came home… confronted him in the living room and his anger overwhelmed him and he attacked her.”
King was sentenced Tuesday to a mandatory 20-year life sentence.
