Liverpool star Cody Gakpo and his partner suffer miscarriage as she confirms heartbreaking news with Dutchman on World Cup duty with the Netherlands

The Liverpool star’s partner shared a heartbreaking post on Instagram on Saturday, confirming that Cody Gakpo and his girlfriend had suffered a miscarriage.
Noa van der Bij wrote on social media: ‘It is with broken hearts that we share that our little boy passed away during pregnancy. Thank you for your support.’
Liverpool’s 27-year-old striker Gakpo is in the Netherlands for World Cup duty. It is not known when the couple lost their unborn child.
Noa, who has a son named Samuel with Gakpo, added: ‘We went to church together and lit a candle. Then we went to the playground with our son Samuel.
‘There was another boy there and his name was İlyas. There could be no more beautiful sign from God.’
The striker announced four weeks ago that he and Noa were expecting their second son.

Dutch publication De Telegraaf reported that Gakpo did not get off the Dutch team bus before training four days ago, but arrived by car later. The Dutch football federation announced that the 27-year-old football player was not late for training, but there was a good reason for his delay in arrival.
Gakpo will remain on the Netherlands roster for the remainder of its season in the United States.
Gakpo shared: ‘This is an incredibly difficult time for our family.
‘We ask for our privacy and space. Thank you for your understanding.’
The Dutch federation said in a statement: ‘First of all, we share the pain of Cody and his family, Noa and their son Samuel. This is a very sad particular situation.
‘Naturally we were already aware of this and the KNVB is trying to support the family as much as possible. In consultation with his girlfriend, Cody decided to stay in the group.
‘We respect their privacy and therefore will not be commenting further on the situation, including how we are trying to be there for them. We also won’t be providing any more information about this in the near future. ‘If anything is shared about this, it’s up to the family.’
