Locked door ‘would have made Southport attack worse’

A dance teacher injured in the Southport attack, a public investigation, said the doors of the building were locked. The result would be “seriously worse”.
On July 29, 2024, Leanne Lucas was home to a Taylor Swift -themed workshop at Hart Space on July 29, 2024, when Axel Rudakubana attacked and killed three girls.
A summary of the evidence of Mrs. Lucas, who was not good enough to participate in the investigation, heard that she believed that the doors were locked, and the killer would wait outside to “find a way” or leave out, block and catch out.
In the investigation, the fire safety legislation required the opening of the main entrance and studio gates as fire exits.
Nicholas MOSS KC, Liverpool Municipal Hall, the adviser of the investigation Nicholas Moss KC, Ms. Lucas’ın how to plan the event and what health and safety procedures summarized the evidence.

Mrs Lucas said in his statement: “Nothing told me what to do if a workshop attack was done.”
Mr. Moss explained how he believes that he had completed the “relevant documents that are compatible with the instructions”, but explained how he was “irrelevant” when he faces an “unpredictable life and death status”.
Mr. Moss said: “If you [Ms Lucas] He believed that the event was at risk of attack, and would not surrender the workshop. “

He heard from Jennifer Scholes, who had previously investigated the investigation, Hart Space Dance Studio and made subtitles to other traders to conduct lessons or workshops.
Mrs. Scholes, who regularly left the studio to Mrs. Lucas before the attack, fought her tears as she described her as a “great person” and “incredible teacher”.
The investigation heard that Mrs. Scholes came to the Hart area after the attack and saw Mrs. Lucas collapsed on the edge of a minibus.
When asked what it was and whether it was good, Mrs Lucas said: “Someone went in and stabbed the children, the children were stabbed.”
Mrs Scholes, who appeared on the video lock, said, “I had no problem with his behavior. It was reliable.
“He was always in time, transparent, and I can always say that he really loves his work and children.”
MS Scholes confirmed that the training department does not mention the protection of guidance for children’s out -of -school activities for children’s locked doors, video entry systems or CCTV scope.
The investigation heard that Scholes hired the studio before the attack within five years, and never had no “an uninvited guest or unwanted visitor.”
“I don’t think anyone can imagine that there may be something so terrible in any place.”
The six -year -old Bebe King, seven and nine -year -old Alice Da Silva Aguiar, Elsie Dot Stancombe died in the attack, and eight children and two adults, including ten people – Lucas – were injured.
The investigation continues.
