Lorraine Kelly backs The Independent’s SafeCall campaign

Presenter and long-time child welfare advocate Lorraine Kelly throws her support behind Independent‘s campaign to raise vital funds to help missing children find safety and help.
For decades, the Scottish broadcaster has been speaking out for those who have no voice on television and supporting charities and organizations dedicated to children’s issues.
Joined by Sir Keir Starmer and Sir David Beckham, he supports the publication’s call for funding for a new service that will reach the 70,000 children reported missing in the UK each year.
he said Independent: “Being lost is a sign that something has gone very, very wrong in a child’s life, and yet we’re not getting the kids the help they need.
“SafeCall can reach kids where they are, providing them with a reliable voice and privacy, leading them to a safer path.”

The presenter has been a fixture on British television for over four decades, hosting the weekday morning show. LorraineSince 2010.
He started his career as a reporter at the age of 17. East Kilbride Newsbefore becoming a server Good morning England in 1984 and an original host GMTV In 1993.
Ms Kelly has long been a trustee of STV’s children’s charity and continues to present its annual show. He also hosted the ITV series in 2011. Children’s HospitalIt looked at the daily lives of children and staff at the new Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
Much of his advocacy work is dedicated to the welfare of children. He is patron of the Scottish children’s charity the Archie Foundation, which helps children and their families with health and bereavement issues. She is also patron of Rosie’s Rainbow Fund, a charity that supports seriously ill children and their families in hospitals and schools.
Ms Kelly received a CBE in 2021 for her services to broadcasting, journalism and charity.
Around 600 children go missing every day in the UK. Independent It aims to raise £165,000 to help launch SafeCall, a free new service that will provide confidential support, guidance and a route to safety for children in crisis.
Ms Kelly said: “Specially trained helpline staff can talk them through their options and help connect them to services that will make them safer.
