Luke Littler ‘sick’ of Mo Farah talk and backs himself over marathon | Other | Sport

Luke Littler has said he is fed up with the online debate surrounding a potential half-marathon challenge against Mo Farah, insisting he is waiting for his chance to come out on top against the Olympic legend. Last weekend’s London Marathon, in which Farah, Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel and former Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey took part, sparked debate about how other top sports stars might perform in a major race.
The proposed half marathon would require both men to stop at every mile marker and complete 501 checks along the 13.1-mile route. The outcome will depend on Farah’s ability to control the 501 and whether regular stops will give Littler enough time to rally the Olympian.
Littler appeared to support him after British boxer David Allen shared an exchange of messages with the 19-year-old on Instagram regarding the viral controversy. “I’m sick of seeing this,” Littler joked. “I don’t think Mo can beat 501. Tbh [to be honest]I would walk after my first 501.”
Offering his take on the hypothetical contest, Allen added: “This is probably the best question I’ve ever been asked in my entire life. “Mo Farah averaged 4.15/4.20 miles, Luke Littler 12.13.14 minutes.
“Can Mo Farah hit 501 by jumping 13 times in eight minutes? It’s all going to come down to doubles because you can break that 501 with no problem.”
While Allen later revealed that he was still waiting for a response from Farah, fans on social media put forward arguments in favor of both sports icons.
One wrote: “A mile less. He was able to walk in about three and a half hours. At that point Mo would still be doing a double pace at mile five, completely stoned, probably crying.”
Another disagreed, claiming: “I can’t see the younger one going 13 miles without walking. There’s no way he can run a 12-minute mile for 13 miles. Mo would have a lot more time for that. He’s still getting down to doubles but he’s got all day to get to them.”
A third observed: “Little throws darts in a minute. If Mo has never played darts before, it could take up to 25 to 30 minutes per leg, or even longer. Especially if he has to do the math on his own. Walking speed might be enough for Littler.”
Littler returns to Premier League Darts action in Aberdeen on Thursday evening, where he will aim to make it back-to-back wins after defeating Jonny Clayton 6-1 in last week’s final in Liverpool.
