National Highways said: “At around 2am Wiltshire Police responded to a serious single vehicle collision involving a car leaving the eastbound carriageway near Leigh Delamere services.

“The carriageway was closed to allow Wiltshire Police, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and South West Ambulance Service to work at the scene of the collision.

“National Highways Traffic Officers attended the scene and assisted emergency services by providing traffic management both at the scene and on J18.

“All traffic caught in the closed area was turned and released through reverse relief.

“Although an exact timeframe for reopening cannot be given at this stage, early indications suggest the closure will continue into this morning and into the afternoon.”
