A 21-year-old woman showed how deeply in love she was with her boyfriend, who was allegedly murdered by his father and two siblings, by “marrying” his dead body in Nanded district of Maharashtra.
Videos of Aanchal Mamidwar’s action at the late teenager’s house and his call for his family to be hanged for the murder went viral on social media.
According to the police, Saksham Tate (20) was standing with his friends in the old Ganges area on Thursday evening, November 27, when a fight broke out between him and Ms Aanchal’s brother Himesh Mamidwar.
Mr Himesh allegedly shot at Saksham, the bullet pierced his ribs and then smashed a tile on his head, killing him on the spot, the official said. Mr Himesh added that his brother Sahil (25) and their father Gajanan Mamidwar (45) were arrested soon after.
On Friday evening, November 28, Miss Aanchal arrived at Saksham’s house while preparations for the last rites were in progress. Eyewitnesses said that a distraught Aanchal then “married” his body, claiming that it would make their love “immortal”.
He later told reporters that he also demanded the death penalty for his father and brothers who killed Saksham.
“I was in love with Saksham for the last three years but my father was against our relationship due to caste differences. My parents often threatened to kill Saksham and now my father and my brothers Himesh and Sahil have done it. I want justice. I want the accused to be hanged,” said Ms. Aanchal. He also told reporters that he plans to stay at Saksham’s house from now on.
