Major clothing chain with over 300 branches to shut branch in UK town | UK | News

Although the chain has not publicly announced the closing date, it appears to be the end of an era for the store, which has been on the high street since 2016. It’s unclear what caused the store’s apparent closure. The Express has reached out to Mountain Warehouse for more information.

Marlow has a population of around 15,000 and boasts “historic streets with small preserved buildings and a wealth of boutique shops, restaurants, cafes and bistros”, according to Visit Thames.

It is not yet known whether Mountain Warehouse plans to locate another space there.

This follows a series of changes to Mountain Warehouse’s grounds in recent years; A number of branches have closed or relocated since 2020 to move into larger premises or consolidate stores in a local area. Bucks Free Press reports.

Founded by entrepreneur Mark Neale, the brand opened its first store in Swindon in 1997.

Over the 25 years since then the chain has expanded significantly, with around 300 stores in the UK and around 100 elsewhere, including countries in North America, Europe and New Zealand.

The company is headquartered in Victoria, London, with a store nearby in the Victoria Place shopping center at London Victoria station.

Mountain Warehouse says on its website that it has been “developing outdoor clothing and equipment for the whole family” since its founding.

“We offer a carefully selected range of products from third-party brands, but most of the products you’ll find at Mountain Warehouse are designed and manufactured in-house and specifically for us, so we can offer you quality products across the full range at great prices,” he adds.
