Major high street chain’s biggest store yet opens in shopping centre | UK | News

A high street retailer has opened its largest store in Scotland. JD Sports, or the King of Trainers, opened its flagship store at The Center in Livingston, Scotland, yesterday (Thursday, June 9). The chain, which already has 350 stores in the UK, has opened its 15,500 square meter branch in the popular shopping mall, greatly improving its previous store, which first opened in 2008.
JD Sports’ former branch at The Center was a 9,500-square-foot unit, but following popular customer demand, the sportswear brand expanded its retail space and moved closer to the mall’s main entrance.
Lucky customers stood the chance to win exclusive gifts, with the store offering gift bags and gift vouchers worth £50 or more to the first 50 customers. There are also more chances to win as the launch celebrations, which include a live DJ and a Spin to Win competition in front of the mall, are expected to continue until Sunday, July 12.
Shoppers will have money to spend in the store, special keychains and even brand new sneakers.
Larissa Fleming, of Livingston, said: “The new store looks amazing – really bright with a great layout and has a great selection of trainers and clothes.
“I had to treat myself to a new pair of On Cloud trainers that I’ve been coveting for a while now.”
Tammy Wilson, who was shopping with son Rory, added: “It was great to pop into the new-look store this morning, which my son is a huge fan of.
“She picked out a really nice pair of Montirex shorts and a t-shirt but I have a feeling we’ll be going back again very soon; we loved it!”
The new opening comes shortly after JD Sports closed all of its company-owned Hip stores, a premium streetwear and menswear retailer. All transactions are now carried out exclusively online.
