Man arrested for murder after toddler, 3, found dead in UK town | UK | News

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a three-year-old girl was found dead in a flat in Surrey. The man was treated for serious injuries after being detained at an address in Pyrcroft Road, Chertsey, at around 5.40pm on Thursday, June 25. The man is currently in custody and detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
An investigation was launched, led by Surrey Police’s Major Crime Squad. Police believe the incident occurred in a “family atmosphere.”
In a statement, the senior investigating officer said: “This is a tragic incident and our officers are working hard to build a picture of what happened.”
They added: “We have made an arrest in relation to this incident and are not seeking to identify anyone else in connection with our investigation at this stage. We have no reason to believe there is any risk to the public.”
Locals expressed their shock at the incident, with some leaving flowers and messages outside the apartment block.
A citizen who saw the suspect being taken away said: Sun: “It happened on the ground floor. I saw them take him away. He was wearing an oxygen mask and had a bandage on his stomach. He looked calm as they put him in the back of a police car.”
They said the place was full of young professionals and the apartments were very luxurious.
Meanwhile, someone else said everyone in the area was in shock and felt “so sorry for the little girl.”
Another witness said they went out around 6pm and there were police cars and ambulances “everywhere”. They had taped off the area.
Stating that the scene of the incident was unusual for the region, officials said that they also saw an air ambulance.
Neighborhood residents said that there were many families in the apartment, so the incident had a shocking effect. Bouquets of flowers and signs reading ‘RIP Pretty Girl’ were placed on the building.
