Man arrested in notorious ‘Putney Pusher’ case

A man has been arrested in the decade-long manhunt for the ‘Putney Pusher’.
The 44-year-old man was arrested at his home in west London and remains in police custody.
Shocking CCTV footage from 2017 showed a jogger pushing a female pedestrian into the path of a double-decker bus on Putney Bridge.
Detectives involved in the case interviewed 50 people and arrested three suspects, including an American investment banker who was in the United States at the time of the incident.
No one was charged.
The incident took place around 7.40 in the morning, when the jogger ran up and forced the woman onto the road.
The victim, who has never been identified, survived with few injuries after the bus driver’s rapid movements caused him to miss his head by inches.
The runner returned about 15 minutes later and passed the victim again while still receiving help on the bridge, ignoring calls to stop.
He was described as a white man in his early to mid-30s with short brown hair and a stocky build. He was wearing dark blue shorts, sneakers and a gray T-shirt.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “On Monday 15 June a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.
“He was taken into custody and stayed there.
“The arrest relates to an incident on Putney Bridge in Putney on 5 May 2017, where a woman was pushed into the path of a bus.
“Investigations continue.”
