Man arrested near home of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor | UK news

A man has been arrested on suspicion of public order offenses and possession of an offensive weapon near the home of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
Norfolk police said: “Officers were called to Wolferton shortly after 7.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 May 2026) following reports of a man behaving in an intimidating manner in the village.
“Officers attended and the man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offense and possession of an offensive weapon. He was taken to King’s Lynn police investigation center for questioning and remains in custody.”
It was reported that Mountbatten-Windsor, who was accompanied by a member of his private security team, allegedly ran towards his car parked nearby and quickly drove away after the suspect tried to chase after him.
The Telegraph reported that the incident occurred on a strip of public land close to Sandringham Royal Parkland and Marsh Farm on the Sandringham Estate, where Mountbatten-Windsor moved last year after being forced to leave the Royal Lodge in Windsor.
Buckingham Palace declined to comment. Representatives for Mountbatten-Windsor have not yet responded to a request for comment.
Mountbatten-Windsor is provided with an annual salary by his brother King Charles, which includes an allowance for private security costs, but it is understood it is up to the former Duke how he uses it.
He was arrested in February – on his 66th birthday – on suspicion of misconduct in public office following allegations that he shared sensitive information with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during his time as the UK’s trade envoy. He was later released under investigation.
He has denied any wrongdoing regarding his connections to Epstein and has denied all allegations against him.
