Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after car hits pedestrians | UK | News
A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, which resulted in a vehicle plowing into pedestrians in Arnold city centre, leaving one person with life-threatening injuries.
Emergency services were called to Market Place at 1.12am on Saturday, May 9, following reports that a red Vauxhall Astra had crashed into a group of people.
The investigation determined that there had been an argument in downtown Arnold a short time ago.
In the incident, one person was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, while the other 4 people suffered minor injuries.
According to reports, a team of detectives worked throughout the day to track down the suspect and arrested him on Saturday evening. Nottinghamshire Live.
The 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.
The Counter Terrorism Police did not participate in the investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have shared this significant development with the family of the seriously injured man and they are being supported by specialist officers.
“We ask people not to speculate about the circumstances surrounding the incident and to respect the privacy of those involved.
“Our investigation is ongoing and we remain open-minded as these extensive investigations continue.
“We want to thank citizens who have shared information with us but still want to hear from anyone who can help.
“Anyone with relevant dashcam, CCTV, doorbell or mobile phone footage should get in touch and share it with the investigation team.
“All road closures in the area have now been removed and we would like to thank local people for their understanding.”
The cordon remained in downtown Arnold for approximately 17 hours, causing many businesses to close for the day following the incident.
