Man charged after 66-year-old dies
A man accused of attacking another man almost 40 years his senior in a West End park has been charged by police after the older man died in hospital.
Investigations showed that the elderly man fell after allegedly being hit on Sunday and suffered a head injury in the fall.
Officers suspected the 66-year-old had been attacked until an hour before emergency services were called to the West End Common on Brisbane’s Vulture Street at around 1.30am.
The person was taken to the hospital and died due to his injuries.
Police set up a crime scene at the popular inner-city park Sunday morning.
On Monday, officers charged a 27-year-old Yeronga man with one count of unlawful strike causing death and two counts of drug possession.
Police said the two men knew each other.
The 27-year-old man was expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
