A British man has been arrested for allegedly forcing a 3-year-old boy into the crocodile enclosure at the zoo. The child was seriously injured and authorities said the suspect did not know the child as the investigation continues.

A man was released from custody Friday after being charged with attempted murder for allegedly forcing a 3-year-old boy into the zoo’s alligator enclosure.
Cambridgeshire police said the man, who has not yet been identified, was unavailable for interview.
The child was seriously injured in the incident that took place at Johnsons of Old Hurst, a farm and zoo in Huntingdon, England, north of London.
The 30-year-old man will remain on bail until September 30 pending further investigation.

“The man, who was unknown to the victim, was deemed unfit for interview,” police said in a statement.
It was stated that the condition of the child, whose arm and pelvis were broken, was stable.
Tracey Johnson, the zoo owner’s wife, saved him from the alligator.

“I know Tracey very well and she’s a lovely woman and this is no more than I expected from her,” one local told BBC News. “She would always risk her life to save someone else. “She is an extraordinary lady and very brave.
The villager added that Johnson put himself in “great danger” during the rescue.
The owners said their tropical homes will remain closed until further notice.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the child and his family after the incident that occurred today,” the owners of the house wrote on social media.

According to The Guardian, Huntingdonshire district councilor Charlotte Lowe said she “couldn’t understand how this happened because they had all the right protection and safety equipment there, to put it better.”
