Trump Mountain: Georgia lawmaker proposes renaming Atlanta-area landmark

A north Georgia landmark could soon be renamed after President Donald Trump if a state lawmaker gets his way.
Rep. David Clark, R-Buford, introduced a resolution Tuesday to change the name of Sawnee Mountain in Forsyth County, located 50 miles northeast of Atlanta, to “Trump Mountain.” According to WSB-TV.
“President Trump is one of the most transformative presidents in our nation’s history,” Clark wrote. Facebook post details the movement.
“That is why today I introduced a resolution to rename Sawnee Mountain in Forsyth County as Trump Mountain to honor his historic legacy of Making America Great Again.”

The decision sparked backlash from some Trump critics who criticized the move in the comments.
“Isn’t this a satire?” wrote one reviewer.
Another chimed in: “Transformative is not a compliment.”

Others have drawn parallels between the two, noting the mountain’s historical significance to the Native American community.

Some commentators were more supportive of Clark’s proposal.

“HE [Trump has] He definitely deserved it. “No President since Lincoln has faced the winds from the other side more,” he said, and another Trump supporter chimed in: “Trump is the most transformative figure in US history, and he’s not even close.”
Clark’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Clark is also a candidate to become the Peach State’s next lieutenant governor.
