Man fighting for life after alleged hammer attack in Sydney hospital | Sydney

A man is fighting for his life after he was allegedly attacked with a hammer while in hospital.

Police allege a 46-year-old woman walked into Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred hospital in the early hours of Thursday morning and hit the man in the head with a homemade weapon.

Initial investigations suggest that the 63-year-old man was an acquaintance of the woman.

The man’s condition remains critical.

The woman was taken to Newtown police station and charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

He was due to appear at a bail hearing on Thursday.
