Man Gets 20-Year RI For Assault

A district court on Tuesday sentenced 50-year-old Muhammad Razak to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting an underage girl in Jagtial district. Special Fast Track Court District Chief Sessions Judge Ratna Padmavathi on Pocso cases also ordered compensation of ₹3 lakh for the victim.

The case dates back to 2022, when Razak was arrested by the Malyala police under the Pocso Act. After detailed investigation led by Inspector Ramanamurthy, public prosecutor Ch. Ramakrishna Rao identified the crime through witness statements and forensic reports.

Jagtial superintendent of police Ashok Kumar praised the investigation team and prosecution for their swift action and said the conviction was a stern warning that criminals cannot escape the law. He praised Inspector Ramanamurthy, CMS SI Srikanth and court officers for their efforts in ensuring a high-quality investigation.

Electrician killed in accident on Balanagar road

Maisure Ravi, a 40-year-old electrician, died after his vehicle reportedly skidded, causing him to fall near HAL gate number 2, sustaining head injuries. Around 1 o’clock on Monday night in Balanagar, his wife Manku Jeevitha, the 2nd complainant, told the police that Ravi was working as an electrician in Jeevan Lab company in Balanagar. Following the accident, he was taken by ambulance to RNC hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead when they arrived.

20 years in prison for man who attacked a minor

The Medchal-Malkajgiri Special Court, which is hearing Pocso cases, on Tuesday sentenced Shaik Naseer to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting and imprisoning a minor in 2021. The case was reported to Dundigal police station.

The court also ordered payment of ₹5 lakh as compensation to the survivor, according to a statement issued by the Cyberabad police.

The survivor’s father filed a complaint on October 30, 2021, stating that his minor daughter had left home around 12.30 pm the day before and had been missing since then. During the investigation, the police alleged that the accused kidnapped the child, took him to Mumbai, imprisoned him for about six months and sexually assaulted him repeatedly.

Naseer was arrested on May 11, 2022, and a criminal complaint was filed after investigation.

Woman who attempted suicide in Serilingampally dies

The 28-year-old woman, Ganta Ganga, died on Tuesday after attempting suicide two days ago. Police said Ganga, who was married to Subramanyam, was having marital problems. Her father Veerababu, a watchman in Serilingampally, told Gachibowli police that the couple got married in 2018 and used to fight frequently. Ganga had left her husband’s house five months ago and was living with her father.

Around 9 am on Sunday, Ganga went to the toilet and attempted suicide. His family first rushed him to Kondapur District Hospital and later to Osmania General Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

Engineer found dead in his car in ORR

Tadapaneni Shiva Rama Krishna, a 33-year-old software worker, was found dead inside his car parked on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Peddamberpet in the early hours of Tuesday. Police suspect suicide.

According to Abdullapurmet police, the body was found around 5.30am while ORR patrol personnel were clearing parked vehicles near Exit 11 from Pedaamberpet towards Bonguluru. They noticed a car stopped about 100 meters from the exit. Upon examination, a man was seen lying unconscious in the front seat.

Patrol personnel immediately notified ORR ambulance. The treating doctor examined the man and found him dead at the scene. Police identified him as Krishna, a resident of Gachibowli and a native of Vedamanoor in Rural Vijayawada. The reason for the suspected suicide has not yet been determined.

Following a complaint by ORR patrol officer Bandaru Sri Ramulu, Abdullapurmet police registered a case and started investigation.

Hospital worker arrested for jewelery theft

A 45-year-old cleaning staff working at a hospital in Madinaguda was arrested for allegedly stealing gold and silver jewelery from a patient’s attendant, police said on Tuesday.

According to Miyapur police, the accused Jeribeti Durga, a resident of Chandanagar, was identified following a complaint by a 43-year-old software engineer. He reported that at around 22.20 on February 25, while he was left alone in the hospital room because his wife was taken to the intensive care unit, he noticed that the ornaments in his bag were missing.

Hospital officials checked the CCTV footage which showed Durga entering the room between 8.51pm and 8.56pm. Another video shows him and another employee leaving the hospital building after 9.20pm without their belongings being checked. Police caught Durga at her house and allegedly seized two silver anklets and a silver mettelu, along with a gold chain, two gold bangles and an earring worth a total of seven tolas.

Two young people were dragged into the left channel of NS

Nalgonda: Two youths were dragged away in the Nagarjunasagar left canal at Haliya in Nalgonda district and were last listed missing as per reports on Tuesday evening. The missing youths were a 17-year-old from Sirisinagandla in Peddavoora mandal and a 14-year-old from Surepally in Anumula mandal. Police said Bablu went to the canal to wash his hands and accidentally fell into the water. Kartheek entered the canal and they were both washed away. Upon the notice of the neighborhood residents, Hailya police started an operation to find the missing young people.
