Man held over racist abuse sent to England footballer

A man was arrested for “disgusting and terrible” racist abuse sent to British footballer Jess Carter on social media.

Police began the investigation after noting that the messages were sent to the 27 -year -old defender during the UEFA Women’s Euros in July.

A 59 -year -old man from Great Harwood was previously arrested by the Lancashire police on suspicion of malicious communication and has been released under investigation since then.
