Man in custody after device set off at FBI in New York

A man was taken into custody after an incendiary device was detonated in a building housing the FBI headquarters and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Lower Manhattan.

Video footage of the scene posted on CNN shows uniformed police and other officers surround a man and take him into custody as smoke rises from the area.

“This morning, an individual placed an incendiary device outside 26 Federal Plaza in New York City. The individual is in custody and two minor injuries have been reported so far,” FBI director Kash Patel said in a statement published on X. he said.

He added that there were 2 slightly injured people.

The FBI said its Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating the incident, which occurred around 8:30 a.m. Monday morning.

The building at 26 Federal Plaza is just a few blocks from City Hall and the federal courthouse.
