Man in his 50s dies after fight at UK holiday park: Suspect in his 60s is arrested

A man in his 50s died after a fight between two men at a popular holiday park in England, while police arrested a suspect in his 60s.
Emergency services were called to St Minver Holiday Park near Wadebridge in Cornwall following reports of a ‘physical fight’.
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers attended the park at around 8pm on May 30 following the incident.
A man in his 50s suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Treliske Hospital for treatment, where he died two days later on 1 June.
Police arrested a man in his 60s on suspicion of causing unintentional wounding or grievous bodily harm.
He has since been released on bail while the investigation continues.
Police also made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which launched an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘Devon and Cornwall Police have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Police Conduct Office [IOPC] following an incident in the Wadebridge area.

‘Officers were called at around 8pm on Saturday, May 30, following reports of a physical fight between two men at St Minver Holiday Park.
‘The ambulance service also attended.
‘A man in his 50s suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Treliske Hospital. He died in hospital on June 1.
‘Officers arrested a man in his 60s on suspicion of involuntary wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm. He was released on bail until 21 August pending further investigation.
‘It would be inappropriate to comment further as the matter is currently subject to an independent investigation by the IOPC due to its police connection.
‘Devon and Cornwall Police are co-operating fully with the IOPC in relation to this matter.’
The IOPC confirmed it was in the early stages of the investigation and will review police interactions with the man before he became unresponsive, as well as the medical care provided by officers.
An IOPC spokesperson said: ‘We can confirm that we are independently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man following an incident at a caravan park in Cornwall on 30 May 2026.
‘Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the area near Wadebridge at 8pm following reports a man in his 50s was behaving aggressively.’ Officers gave the man first aid and an ambulance was called at around 8.25pm. He was taken to hospital in Truro and sadly passed away on June 1, 2026.
‘Our initial stage investigation will examine officers’ interactions with the man before he became unresponsive and the medical care provided by police.
‘Our thoughts and sympathies are with the man’s family and friends. ‘We will be in contact with them to explain our mission and how our investigation will be conducted.’
Parkdean resorts, which owns St Minver Holiday Park, has been contacted for comment.
A spokesman for St Minver Holiday Park said: ‘Our thoughts are with the deceased and his loved ones at this difficult time. ‘We will assist the police when necessary.’
