Man in Sweden accused of selling sex with wife to 120

A man in northern Sweden is suspected of abusing his wife and selling sex with her to at least 120 men, the prosecutor said.

The man has been in custody since October after the woman reported the incidents to police, and investigators are preparing to file charges of aggravated procurement.

Prosecutor Ida Annerstedt said investigators believe the husband brutally abused his wife on a massive scale.

Prosecutors spoke publicly for the first time Monday about the total number of men believed to be involved.

They did not disclose the identity of the couple. The man, in his 60s, denied any accusations.

Swedish Gender Equality Minister Nina Larsson stated that she was very shocked by the case.

Annerstedt declined to discuss the issue of coercion in the case or comment on whether the partner was drugged during sex.

Swedish law criminalizes the purchase and provision of sex, but does not criminalize the sale of sex by sex workers, who are considered victims of exploitation.

It is stated that if the husband is convicted of aggravated supply, he may face a prison sentence of 2 to 10 years.

Two men believed to have purchased sex with the woman have been charged, and other suspects will likely be charged, the prosecutor said.

If convicted, they face up to a year in prison.

In Sweden, purchasing sexual services online without physical contact is also considered a crime.

Annerstedt said that the indictment against the husband will be presented on March 13, and the trial is expected to start shortly.
