Man injured, suburb locked down after tyre shop in Qld suburb of Kingston goes up in flames
A man was injured in a fire at a tire shop and a commuter was quarantined.
Emergency services rushed to Brisbane Tires Mags on Queen St in Kingston in the city’s south at around 1pm following reports of a structure fire.
Fire crews arriving at the scene found that a tire shop containing approximately 20 vehicles was in flames.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) spokesman said six firefighters entered the burning building wearing breathing apparatus to ensure no one was inside.
Seven fire trucks and two ladder aircraft fought the fire for two hours until the fire was brought under control.
Residents were urged to stay away as police declared an emergency and set up an exclusion zone while firefighters battled the massive blaze.
The Queensland Ambulance Service took a man with burns to his hands and legs to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
A police spokesman said firefighters were still at the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
