he wrote on Facebook. “I am aware of extremely worrying reports and the presence of major emergency services at the Co-op Academy on Plant Hill Road following the lockdown of schools this morning.
“Manchester Police have issued an official update to reassure parents and the local community:
Officers are currently responding to an incident at the school and a female student has been arrested.
Three people were injured, but thankfully police have confirmed the injuries are not believed to be serious at this time.
There is no wider threat to students and staff at the school.
Emergency services remain on scene to manage the situation and provide support to the school.
“I know exactly how frightening an incident like this can be for parents, but please try to remain calm. Police have confirmed that the immediate threat has been contained and children are safe.
“Please avoid the immediate area to allow ambulances and police to do their job. I will share official updates as soon as we receive them.”
