Mandelson summoned to testify to US Congress over Epstein links

Lord Mandelson has been asked to testify before the US Congress about his relationship with disgraced pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
In a letter. US politicians have told the former Labor ambassador they think he has “critical information” that will help their investigation into Epstein.
Two members of the House of Representatives, Suhas Subramanyam and Robert Garcia, wrote to Mandelson as part of the ongoing investigations into Epstein, asking him to answer questions from the House Oversight Committee.
They wrote: “Although you are no longer serving as British ambassador to the United States and have resigned from the House of Lords, it is clear that you have extensive social and business ties to Jeffrey Epstein and have critical information relevant to our investigation into Epstein’s operations.
“Given the appalling allegations regarding Epstein’s conduct, we request that you make yourself available for a written interview with Committee staff regarding the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein and his collaborators.”
Lord Mandelson was given until the end of the month to respond.
Last week Sir Keir Starmer said he was sorry for believing Peter Mandelson’s “lies” and appointing him to the post of Britain’s ambassador to the US.
Following a barrage of criticism from his own MPs, the prime minister issued a public apology to Epstein’s victims.
She also admitted she knew Lord Mandelson had an affair with Epstein before giving him the job, but said: “None of us knew the depths and darkness of that relationship.”
