Manhunt under way for prisoner who escaped brother’s funeral in Keilor East

A manhunt is underway after a prisoner allegedly escaped while attending his brother’s funeral in Melbourne’s northwest.

Orijol Rukaj was attending his brother’s funeral at Keilor East Cemetery under police guard around 1.30pm on Saturday.

But police allege he left the cemetery during the ceremony while undecked.

He was last seen wearing a white shirt, black suit and Asics joggers.

He is described as white, approximately 170cm tall, with short shaven black hair and a solid build.

Rukaj is known to frequent the St Albans and Sunbury areas.

The man is not believed to be violent but police are asking anyone who sees him to call Triple-0 immediately.
